Back In The Work Force

Unfortunately
part of my new path has included a lack of disposable income. There really hasn't been much income at all really. Don't get me wrong, I have done really well staying afloat but it's been very tight. I would be lying if I said I didn't miss the days when there were a few hundred dollars at my disposal at any given moment. However, I can say that living a more humble life is a small price to pay for being clean and sober...and on the right path again.

When I started to realize that money wasn't going to come to me as easy as it had in my previous life, I started looking into what to do for a more steady income. First I gave bartending a try but found it to be too much like high school, chaotic and full of drama. Definitely not the environment that I want to be working in. After that I gave Kelly Services a shot to see if they could find a place for me, that never really panned out. So I figured I would start back at the beginning and seek a position in the food service industry again. I swore I would never go back but times are tough and school isn't going to pay for itself.

It took a great deal of soul searching before I convinced myself there was no shame in doing what it takes to get things done. It is definitely not the proudest moment in my life but I do find solace in knowing that I am walking a better path now than I was then. Though there was plenty of money then, along with it came heavy drug use and a very promiscuous lifestyle. When I stop and think about it..I wouldn't change anything I have done in my past, nor what I am doing now. I had a lot of amazing experiences and was allotted many opportunities that many people weren't at my age.

It's just time to grow up a little and start being a big boy!

What My Future Holds

There has been a lot of thought on what I would like to do with my future. Over the past 8 years I have only really thought about the present and put no thought into anything after the current day. I was doing good to even plan something for the following week. Well having a new therapist helping me with my new path has had many advantages, and one of them is helping me get my ass back on track as far as school goes.

It took a great deal of thought about what I wanted to go to school for. I went to the school and grabbed a catalog to review what kind of programs were offered and see if there were any I would be interested in. With the help of my therapist, I was able to dig deep down and find things that I had passion for I never knew. One that has always held true, though I would hate to admit it, would be the passion for wanting to help others. There has always been some part of me that always wants to give a helping hand if I can. It's the part that opened up my home to many of my friends back in Los Angeles when they had no where else to go. The part of me that doesn't think twice about loaning friends money if I have it. Just anything I can do to help. Realizing this helped me decide on enrolling in a vocational nursing program.

Summer II starts in 5 weeks and I am both excited and scared at the same time. It has been over 7 years since I have been in High School and that was a fairly traumatic experience in itself. The part that worries me most is that I am paying for it myself so I can only take it one semester at a time, it all depends on where I stand financially at the start of each semester. I would like to have the security of knowing I can knock it all out of the way but I am not alotted that right now. The larger part of me however, is so fucking excited I can barely contain myself. It gives me a great deal of comfort to know that I am getting things rolling on my future. That I am not just sitting on my fat ass anymore waiting for something to happen. There will be frequent updates on the progress of my education. Stay tuned for more...

The Show Must Go On

Oh man where do I start ?!?!?

I have spent the last 8 years of my life as someone else. When I was 16 I started doing drag and took on the persona SERENA SKYY. In that time I moved to Los Angeles and built a rather good name for myself. Around the time I turned 19 I decided to cut off all my hair and start over as a boy. Only weeks after that I was recruited into the gay porn world where I then took on the persona KYLE FOXXX. That continued to be image all the way up to my move to Dallas early this year. I spent so long being all these other people, that I forgot how to just be James.

Moving to Dallas has probably been one of the best moves I have made in my life in a very long time. Though I had many amazing friends and a pretty good life in Los Angeles, I also had a very hearty drug addiction which had consumed me for nearly 5 years. When I decided to stop using and start living sober I was faced with a rather hard decision. I could either cut everyone off I knew and start from scratch in LA (which would have killed me being around people I considered friends for so long and not be able to hang out with them) OR I could take my chances in a new town and try rebuilding my life there. Obviously I chose the latter of the two and it has worked out fairly well for me so far.

Part of my new path includes a more healthy day to day routine and diet, making time to work out and work on my body several times a week, and finding fun and healthy hobbies to take up my free time. It has been a constant battle to stay sober but I find little things every day that make it easier. It helps that I am surrounded with people who care a great deal about me and want to see me get better. Having my best friend, Cicero, here in Dallas with me makes the change so much easier. I can't imagine having to have done it without him. I still stay in contact with many of my friends back in Los Angeles and do hope to make it back that way sometime soon for a visit. I just feel that right now I am where I need to be and need to work on that.

I thought long and hard about what it is I wanted to do with this blog and came up with plenty of thoughts and goals. First and most important..I am going to use it as a method of tracking my progress with my diet and exercise regiment. There will probably be frequent updates as to what I have been eating and what I am doing in the gym. I also think it's important to stay true to my interests, so there are sure to be plenty of posts on hot boys and fun toys. Throw in some quirky stories and personal opinions here and there..and that will probably be the gist of it. I am very excited about this new venture and look forward to taking you all down....
